Homework

Plan books:  At the end of each day, time is set aside for students to fill in their plan books with that evening’s homework.  Please review the plan books periodically with your child.  Some assignments may be completed on-line, while others need to be returned to school. Your child has a folder in their binder labeled “Homework” which is used to carry homework materials to and from school.

Daily Reading: Students are expected to read each day.  The goal is for children to develop a lifelong love for reading, not to track their time.  Please do not set a timer by your child as they read. Rather, read with them, to them or set aside a family reading time when you can model the importance of reading for children and adults.  If you are looking for a general time guideline, reading an additional 20-30 minutes each day has been shown to increase reading skills and test scores substantially.  Students keep track of the books they are reading in their reading notebooks as they work toward a goal in the 40 Book Challenge.
